It's my last week at the Express and wouldn't you know it: not a lot of fresh East Bay news. Luckily I'm a hoarder, and I've got some hot link action from the vaults.
1) Toqueland, the insider site devoted to chefs, posted a roundup of Gather Chef Sean Baker's ten favorite ingredients. Thistle and pork.
2) Everyone's favorite source of food wisdom, CBS, did a rundown of their best burritos in the East Bay. It's sure to make someone angry.
3) Grist ran a good summary of the ongoing battle to create more sustainable meal options on UC campuses.
4) The Kickstarter to get a parklet on 40th Street in front of Subrosa has succeeded.
5) Jim Seishas, the Boot and Shoe Service coffee manager, talked to SFoodie about the role of coffee at high-end restaurants.
6) Also on SFoodie, an introduction to Oakland artisanal candy maker Double Dutch Sweets.
7) Okay, so there's a little fresh news this week. The Old Oakland outpost of San Francisco wine bar District announced an official opening date of April 27 at 827 Washington Street. Expect a fully realized cocktail program (40 whiskeys!) in addition to the vino.
8) One more tidbit: Berkeleyside notes that Cafe Clem has moved from its 7th Street location to downtown Berkeley, at 2020 Kittredge Street.
