In Berlin, a longtime live-in man-woman couple named Simon (Sebastian Schipper) and Hanna (Sophie Rois) gets an excitement injection in their relationship. Could it be Adam (Devid Striesow), the sexy doctor theyre both seeing, unbeknownst to each other? Writer-director Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run, The International) says its his tribute to 1930s Hollywood comedies if thats true, its the driest, most airless, most bloodless (unless you count the shot of Simons surgically removed testicle plopping in a tray) screwball comedy ever made. Despite all that the principal trio turns in winning performances in Tykwers diagrammatic scenario. Modern to a fault. (119 min.)
