24th Annual Isadora Duncan Awards

When: Tue., Jan. 12, 6 p.m. 2010

Join the Bay Area dance community in honoring the outstanding achievements of performers, choreographers, costumers, and stage designers at the 24th annual Isadora Duncan Awards, affectionately known as the Izzies. The event is a great way to celebrate the excellence of our rich local talent pool -- "local" being a tad misleading, since so many Bay Area artists and companies are world-renowned -- and whet your appetite for performers and pieces you can seek out in the upcoming season. The nominees are always a diverse bunch, and this year's class includes Katie Faulkner, Tina LeBlanc, Scott Wells, the Obokaso Drum and Dance Ensemble, Theater Flamenco, Ashkenaz, and many others. Sponsored by Berkeley's Shawl-AndersonDanceCenter and open to the public, the festivities take place Tue., January 12, at the Koret Auditorium in the San Francisco Main Public Library (100 Larkin St.). 6 p.m., free.
