When: Sat., Aug. 11, 11 a.m. 2018
Now in its 19th year, the upcoming Laurel Street Fair promises to be one to remember. The music lineup includes local artists such as the all-women of color DJ collective B-Side Brujas, Drummer Boy Aaron, and DJ Lady Ryan — all folks you might have previously seen in the Express. The eclectic list also includes Rupa & the April Fishes, In Lak’ech Danza Azteca, and many others. There will also be a craft beer garden where you will be able to indulge in local brews from the likes of Ale Industries, Crooked City Cider, and Old Kan Beer. There won’t be a shortage of food or local vendors that call Laurel home, either. Some confirmed participants are Beast Oakland, Café Santana, and, of course, Laurel Ace Hardware, which has operated in the Laurel for the past 96 years — even back when the neighborhood was called Key Route Heights. Come hang out in the neighborhood and enjoy a day out with friends supporting local businesses at this free, family-friendly event.
