.Thickest Milk Shakes

Fatapple's

The test for the thickest milk shake is as follows: Insert a spoon. It should remain vertical. The longer it stays vertical, the thicker the shake. A spoon inserted into a Fatapple’s olallieberry milk shake was vertical for the entire fifteen minutes it took to enjoy the restaurant’s chocolate milk shake. (There are also mocha, vanilla, and strawberry.) A Fatapple’s milk shake is also extremely viscous, with a high ice-cream-to-milk ratio — pouring the shake from the container into your glass calls for care, since it wants to come out in one large plop. Known for its burgers and breakfasts, the restaurant also adheres to old-time malt-shop protocol by serving its shakes in ice-cold stainless-steel canisters. Sipping one through a straw takes some real lung power, but it’s a great workout for $3.75.
