.Most Pleasant Pleasanton Restaurant

Blue Agave Club

Located just before the Pleasanton arch on the town’s Main Street, the Blue Agave Club is, on a summer evening, more perfectly charming than a Hollywood movie set. The air is warm and lights twinkle from large, coconut-shaped lanterns hanging from two stately trees on the patio. Even in rainy weather, it’s hard not to be cheered by this Mexican restaurant, set in a two-story yellow house with dining rooms that are filled with tables and large upright chairs painted vibrant yellows, blues, and pinks. The menu, which changes with the season, offers high Mexican cuisine and traditional comfort food, including meat entrées with rich sauces of mole and chiles and more delicate seafood dishes such as camarones xochitl, tender shrimp sautéed in garlic, green onion, and corn truffle sauce. Perhaps the best part comes after the meal, when you can sit, happily full, enjoying the aromas of chocolate and spices that hang in the air.
