.Best Resale Store: Its generosity goes both ways

Thrift Center Thrift Store

Generosity is in the eye of the beholder. Surely it’s a virtue to shop secondhand — you’re recycling goods while saving a few natural resources here and there. And of course, by definition, thrift stores benefit charity (unlike consignment and other kinds of resale stores). But you can also look at how generous a thrift is to you, the consumer. As in, yah, yah, my money’s going to some good cause, but what have you done for me lately? Thrift Center fulfills both sides of the generosity question. Its profits go toward United Cerebral Palsy, so that’s taken care of. And its stock is, well, generous. Although Thrift Center’s neat-as-a-pin competitor up the road, Generations, gets a lot of street-level buzz, Thrift Center, with its faded sign and jam-packed racks, is a true scavenger’s paradise. And the store’s proximity to Cal State East Bay guarantees a constant influx of booty. So dig, rifle, and pick away.
