Generosity is in the eye of the beholder. Surely it’s a virtue to shop secondhand — you’re recycling goods while saving a few natural resources here and there. And of course, by definition, thrift stores benefit charity (unlike consignment and other kinds of resale stores). But you can also look at how generous a thrift is to you, the consumer.
