.12.42 p.m. Any Day of the Week: Best Spot to Pretend You’re Tony Soprano

Duck and Goose Watching at the College of Alameda

And speaking of claw hammers … nah, let’s think about the deeper side of Tony Soprano. Some say it was a group of ducks that moved into his pool back in the early days of The Sopranos. Others insist it was a gaggle of Canadian geese that drove him to face his existential angst. Whichever side of the waterfowl debate you’re on, the College of Alameda’s lawn is the perfect place to feel like America’s favorite fictional Mafioso. Both ducks and geese flock to this spacious field off Atlantic Avenue, just down the road from the USS Hornet Museum. After an apparently busy mating season, this spring is the ideal time for spotting waterfowl couples with their goslings and ducklings waddling along behind them. Just a warning to those thinking of getting up close and personal with the geese — fuggedaboudit! These proud parents are very protective and quickly get aggressive with overly curious humans.
