This band was a fun addition. After we thought our Main Stage line-up was finalized, a brash young drummer walked in to the office to let us know his band should be playing the party. All sorts of skeptical, we humored him as he played us their music; instantaneous approval. Fans of Jimmy Century have had some spectacular national exposure on television and dance charts, but we just love their attitude. Confident, not cocky; totally fun trio that we are excited to feature on the Main Stage. Check below for the official version.

Fans of Jimmy Century is best-known for their 2008-2009 single "Hot Sahara," which received national attention with featured spots on a number of television broadcasts (The L Word, Ugly Betty, Melrose Place, etc) and climbed to #23 on the dance charts. Their infectious live sets have made them a favorite on the West Coast festival circuit, giving them the opportunity to share the stage with artists such as Lady GaGa, Cyndi Lauper, The English Beat, Shiny Toy Guns, Berlin, The Bird and the Bee, and The Presets.

The group is made up of Alicia Perrone (Berkeley) on vocals, multi-instrumentalist Victor James (Alturas), and stand-up drummer Allen Chiu (Hercules). Perrone has described their music as "alterna-dance ‘n' indie disco with a thing for black velvet paintings and beat poetry...we tend to write songs about introverted girls who transform into twisting banshees on the dance floor - lured by the temptations that make their heads go whoosh."

Fans of Jimmy Century's most recent EP Head Go Whoosh (2009) features singles "Lola Like This" and "Hush Madame X". They are currently working on a project for an upcoming LucasArts video game, and recently performed at the West Coast's largest fashion show, Stanford's Charity Fashion Show.
