We've been suffering through the ridiculously up-and-down summer weather like the rest of you. Which is why it was so great to spend a sunny afternoon the other day strolling through Jack London Square and picturing our Best of the East Bay Party. There may have been a cold beverage or two involved, but that shouldn't cheapen the sentiment. They may, however, have bolstered my desire to share the event a little more with the online public, so here's a few photos to give you an idea of where the cool stuff is happening.
Main Stage comes first. We are really liking the set-up for this guy. At the western end of Jack London Square we have a large flat, grassy space. There is water to one side. A (our) bar to the other side. The ferry lets off at the foot of the space. What more do you want, rad bands from 5-11 p.m.? We've got that too!
After that, there's the dance and electronic stage. It's outside what will be our Blues Pavilion, though pictures of that will have to wait till it actually looks like a Blues Pavilion. The dance and electronic stage will host a dance battle and a series of DJs, cause we know how the kids like to party.
Finally (for now) is the Kids Zone, which will have a number of fun kids' bands, various outdoor games and adventurous things for kids to do, and one of the best views of the harbor you could hope for. It nicely bookends the party as well, because symmetry has been tops on our priority list in party-planning sessions.
