You may have noticed that the Express’ news blog has a new name starting today: Seven Days. The new moniker matches the one we use for our weekly news/opinion column in our print edition. As such, it dovetails with our online/print strategy for our other blogs — Legalization Nation, What the Fork, and Culture Spy.
We also decided to make the change because the old name — 92510 — was outdated. We originally chose it to reflect the fact that our news blog covered issues in both Alameda and Contra Costa counties. And while we still report on issues on this side of the East Bay hills, we now rarely cover news in the 925 area code.
The name Seven Days also fits with our plan to update the news blog every day of the week. And it works better with the strategy we adopted last year to post more environmental news from around the state, the nation, and the globe via reports from Environmental Health News and The Daily Climate.
