1. Occupy Oakland and organized labor groups are looking for ways to form an alliance, the Chron reports. Both the Oakland teachers’ union and the California Nurses Association have already been working in support of Occupy Oakland. But the challenge for labor is how to make an alliance with a group that also includes a small cadre of violent vandals who are intent on clashing with police.
2. More and more people have been switching to credit unions — even before last Saturday’s national Bank Transfer Day, the CoCo Times reports. Nationwide, credit unions picked up an astonishing 650,000 new members in October. That’s 50,000 more than they signed up in all of 2010.
