Sad news just arrived from a healthy-eating hub.
Amanda West — proprietor of Amanda's Feel Good Fresh Food in Downtown Berkeley — sent the following email this afternoon to friends and customers:
"Dear Amanda's Community,
"It is with wistfulness, gratitude, and hope that I share the news that we will be closing Amanda's in Berkeley. Our last day will be December 31. ...
"Until that time, our final week in this location will be a celebration of you, our amazing customers, our wonderful team, and our impact on the community. ...
"We've enjoyed two and a half wonderful years in Downtown Berkeley. ... We would have wanted to continue in the location, but were not able to come to an appropriate lease arrangement with our landlords.
"Please know that this is not the end of Amanda's, our Feel Good Fresh Food, or our healthy community. We are planning new ways to bring Amanda's to you, so please stay tuned for news of our next steps.
"In the meantime, we do hope to see you before the end of the year. Will we be selling our Amanda's Freshly-Made Soda Mixes, so you can stock up and avoid pining for our organic agave nectar sodas. We will also gladly buy back your gift cards, but they can also be redeemed with us when we re-emerge."
