The IRS has placed a new $13,638 lien against Ron Dellums for failure to pay enough taxes in 2008, pushing the Oakland mayor’s total federal tax debt to more than $250,000. The IRS had previously placed a $239,000 lien against Dellums for failure to pay sufficient taxes in 2006, 2006, and 2007. Dellums spokesman Paul Rose told the Chron that the mayor “is in the process of dealing with the matter.” Dellums is trying to sell his deceased mother’s Oakland home, which should generate enough money to solve his tax troubles.
