Ex-baseball star Jose Canseco says his former teammate Mark McGwire and coach Tony LaRussa are lying about player steroid use during the late 1980s and early 1990s with the Oakland A’s, according to the Associated Press. McGwire admitted earlier this week that he took steroids while playing for the A’s, but denied Canseco’s assertion that they injected them in locker room stalls. Canseco said McGwire is lying about that and challenged him to take a polygraph.
As for LaRussa, Canseco said the former A’s manager was lying when he said earlier this week that he didn’t know that McGwire had taken steroids: “That's a blatant lie," Canseco said. "There are some things here that are so ridiculous, and so disrespectful for the public and the media to believe. I just can't believe it. I'm in total shock. These guys remind me of politicians that go up and just lie to the public and expect to get elected."
