Kids and their parents and grandparents can give their costumes an early start at the annual Lions Club Halloween parade this afternoon in Oakland's Montclair Village.
Mountain Boulevard from Colton Boulevard to La Salle Avenue and La Salle Avenue from Mountain Boulevard to Moraga Avenue will be closed to traffic from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m. for the parade, which starts at 3:15 in front of the Bank of America and proceeds down Mountain to La Salle, then down La Salle to Moraga. It then travels up the sidewalk on Moraga to return to the starting point.
Free balloons will be distributed, and an insider in the Montclair Village Association informs us: "Participants in the Village Pet Mayor Contest will also be in the parade."
