.Obama Administration Relaxes Pot Policy

Attorney General Eric Holder is issuing new guidelines today, relaxing the federal government’s response to medical marijuana. According to the Associated Press, federal authorities will no longer investigate or prosecute legitimate medical pot users or suppliers in fourteen states, including California. That’s a significant — and welcome — change from the Bush Administration, which actively ignored state laws and pursued investigations and prosecutions in states where medical marijuana is legal. Holder’s Justice Department, however, still plans to prosecute people who use medicinal pot as a front for illegal drug activity.
