The state Supreme Court ruled that the State of California illegally took $3.6 billion in local transportation funds. The decision, which let stand a lower court ruling, means that local transit agencies will get a financial boost. However, according to the California Transit Association, which brought the suit against the state, it's unclear exactly how much the state will have to repay, the Chron reports. The state raided the funds over the past three years to balance its budget, but those actions severely harmed local transit agencies.
