About 5,000 protestors descended on UC Berkeley's Sproul Plaza to voice outrage over the UC regents plan to raise student fees by a whopping 32 percent over the next year. The protest is believed to be one of the largest on campus since the Free Speech Movement of the 1960s. Similar protests were held on UC campuses throughout the state. According to Chron, students at San Francisco State University and City College of San Francisco also protested.
