.Berkeley Schools React to Swine Flu

If you’re a student or work in the service industry, you’ve probably given up worrying about the swine flu beyond washing your hands more frequently. But schools in the Bay Area are getting ready to deal with the virus as the new school year starts. Earlier in August rumor had it that the Berkeley Unified School District would set up centers in its schools to immunize school children, when a vaccine was available, but as the Berkeley Daily Planet reported, Berkeley schools are just going to encourage parents with school age children to keep their sick kids at home. Also, UC Berkeley Health Services will be stepping up efforts to prevent the spread of the flu among college students, a demographic that has already seen a high increase in students sick with the flu.-Megan Geuss
