Oakland Mayor Ron Dellums told the Trib that he is not seeking a raise, thereby shooting down an earlier Chron story that claimed he was. In fact, Dellums staffers said he also plans to take a 5 percent lump-sum pay cut. City council members decided to take a voluntary 5 percent pay cut, beginning last fall. The only council member who has not taken the cut, according to the Trib, is Desley Brooks, who argued that she already saves the city money by having fewer staffers. City Attorney John Russo and City Auditor Courtney Ruby also have not taken the full 5 percent salary cut, although both lost sick, vacation, and management leave as part of the council's cost-saving moves. Ruby, however, did take about a 2.5 percent cut.
Correction: An earlier version of this post stated incorrectly that Ruby took no pay cut, when in fact, she took about a 2.5 percent cut.
