As the Chron reports, business owners along downtown Oakland's 17th street tried to revive their fortunes after the Oscar Grant riot by throwing themselves a little party. The event wasn't promoted very heavily, and only a few dozen people showed up. The merchants along the strip told the Chron that they were reinvigorated nonetheless, and happy to see other businesses support them as they finish cleaning up the glass and debris.
