.Oakland Forces Housing Authority to Play Ball

A few years ago, Oakland City Attorney John Russo was so annoyed at how filthy and blighted the city’s housing projects were that he sued the Housing Authority. Today, the Trib reports that the two parties have settled the lawsuit and pretending to be friends again. But there’s no denying that the Housing Authority got taken to the woodshed. Under the settlement, Housing Authority officials have to attend neighborhood crime-prevention meetings, work more closely with the cops, inspect their properties once in a while, and set up a center to field complaints from citizens. Hey Mayor Dellums, you see this guy John Russo? Believe it or not, he just did something. It’s possible, you know.
