Expect the California Energy Commission to deny a permit for the construction of a 115-megawatt natural gas power plant sometime today. According to the Hayward Daily Review, Energy Commissioner Jeffrey Byron, who is reviewing the proposal, has recommended scuttling the deal out of concerns that plumes of hot gas may interfere with planes approaching or leaving the Hayward Executive airport. Most of the time, the commission goes along with such recommendations.
