Back in June, Superior Court Judge David Hunter threw a big wrench in Alameda County's plans to refuse General Assistance payments to impoverished residents it deems "employable." The county, Hunter ruled, had failed to properly define employable, arguing that numerous job and language impediments had not been taken into account. Now, according to the Oakland Tribune, County Counsel Richard Winnie has appealed the ruling. No word yet on when the appeal will be heard.
