U.S. military veterans can eat for free at Spenger's on November 9 as the historic Berkeley fish grotto celebrates Veterans' Day by treating them to lunch or dinner entrees in thanks for their service

. Held on the Sunday preceding the November 11 national holiday, it's the restaurant's second annual such event. A bulletin just received explains that the offer is open "to those defined as a veteran by the Veterans Administration, Title 38 US Code 101, which is a person who served in the active military, Army, Navy, Air Force or Coast Guard, and who was discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable. Veterans will be asked to show proper identification." Doug Schmick, co-founder of McCormick & Schmick's, the parent company of Spenger's, asserts: "We're proud to continue our tradition of showing appreciation for the veterans who have served our nation so well. What better way to connect with community and show thanks to our veterans than by providing them with the opportunity to enjoy quality time with their loved ones?" Mark your calendar, soldier.
