.Cal Cops Bust Protesters Planting Oak Seed in Chancellor’s Mansion

Upset with UC Berkeley’s plans to rip out an Oak Grove near Memorial Stadium and build a new athletic training center, thirty people showed up at a demo Sunday at Chancellor Robert Birgeneau’s mansion. According to the Chron, seven people then dug a hole in the lawn and planted an oak seedling. The cops popped six of them and have charged them with trespassing, vandalism, and conspiracy. One of the conspirators remains at large and has undoubtedly fled to Cuba or something.
