Looks like that toxic smoky haze won't ruin your Fourth of July barbecue after all. After you've feasted on corn on the cob and watermelon, use the long weekend to get your closet in order: toss aside those tattered summer dresses from six years ago, the slacks you've worn once to a job interview, and those truly comfy shoes whose soles have worn down to nothing. Summer clearance sales are officially almost over, and believe it or not, fall is hitting the racks. While you ponder what you're gonna wear this fall, pick up some stylish summer bargains and make way for the new. Plus, a bikini and burlesque event for after the cue. All revealed in this week's shopping column
Online Summer Clearance Sales
Mega online boutique retailer ShopBop may veer a tad too close to LA (both style-wise and money-wise) for us Northern California types, but there are still some good deals to be had for those who're patient and persistent. The site marked down its summer merch again this week, with discounts as much as 70 percent, like this flat summer sandal (pictured) from Frye for $47.40 (orig. $158). While you're at it, head over to SF-based Tobi.com for more summer clearance items.
Iniam Summer Clearance
Stop in to Rockridge boutique Iniam for 30-50 percent off its summer racks (plus an additional 25 percent off already marked down denim). In tandem, WC shoe store Deliciouz is offering 25 percent off its collection (including Chie Mihara, Pedro Garcia, Repetto, Rachel Comey, and more). While you're at it, check out Iniam's new fall items.
