According to the Pleasanton Weekly, sales for the East Bay second-hand clothing retailer Ross Stores jumped a remarkable fourteen percent over the same period a year ago. Ross executives attributed their success to clement weather and their own crackerjack business sense, but we’ve got a sneaking suspicion that folks are looking at their checking accounts with a little more alarm than usual. Now, if only we could find some second-hand unleaded gasoline…
