Looks like the Daily Californian has joined the throng of print newspapers backing Richmond social worker Tony Thurmond for state Assembly. Nancy Skinner still has the most cash and, with Loni Hancock's endorsement, the support of the Democratic party's establishment. But for what it's worth, the Chronicle, MediaNews, the East Bay Express, and now the Daily Cal has all backed Thurmond. Sometime tomorrow night, we'll see if that matters. (We're guessing not, but who knows?)
A few more thoughts about the Daily Cal's endorsement. We can't let this howler pass without a few chuckles: "Some of [Kriss Worthington's] progressive projects that have flourished at the municipal level, such as Holocaust Remembrance Day, may not necessarily be a success on the state level." Which do Daily Cal editors imagine conservative legislators dislike more, Jews or memory? But now that the DC has opposed Loni Hancock, the real question is: has anyone seen Tom Bates lately? He wouldn't be lurking near any Daily Cal campus kiosks, would he?
