.UC Goes After Animal Rights Activists

Following a recent spate of impolite, possibly intimidating actions outside the homes of researchers, University of California officials are pushing a bill to make it a crime to “intimidate animal enterprise workers.” (Orwell alert!) Among other provisions, the bill would criminalize the posting of researchers’ phone numbers or addresses on the Internet, according to the Daily Californian. Animal rights advocates claim the bill is an unprecedented attempt to ban free speech.
