For failing to pay taxes on over $3 million in income over four years, Hayward chiropractor Ramon Reynoso was sentenced to two years in federal prison on March 26 and ordered to pay $1,162,222 in restitution.
According to a Justice Department press release, Reynoso used false Social Security numbers to open bank accounts. Among other dodges aimed at hiding his assets, he transferred monies into a nominee account, the Tlaquepaque Familia Trust.
According to the Justice Department, "Mr. Reynoso admitted that he had last filed his personal federal income taxes for the calendar year 1996, and despite earning a significant income ... willfully failed to file his federal income taxes and took a number of affirmative acts to willfully attempt to evade and to defeat this income tax due and owing to the United States."
Just a reminder. It's almost April 15.
