Albany Police announced the re-arrest of 38-year-old Antioch resident Joseph Francisco Gallardo Tuesday for the alleged sexual assault of two minors. Earlier this month, Gallardo, a dance instructor affiliated with the Wild Salsa Dance Team, was arrested for the sexual assault of an 18-year-old girl in February 2006. He was booked on one count of forced oral copulation and one count of a forced act of sexual penetration. His bail was set at $90,000. Since that arrest, two additional victims have come forward. As a result, the Alameda County District Attorney's Office filed a total of ten felony sexual assault charges and issued a warrant for Gallardo's arrest. He's currently being held at Santa Rita Jail with a bail amount of $330,000.00. According to the press release, some of the victims were dance students of Gallardo's, and investigators are aware there are other victims who have yet to come forward. Investigators are encouraging the victims to contact the Albany Police at 510-525-7300. Also in May, Albany police announced the arrest of middle school teacher Kay Sorg. The announcement resulted in an outpouring of comments in a blog post on 92510, including, most recently, from a reader who claims to be a friend of the victim. You can read about it here.
