Four members of Congress — none of them from California — have agreed to live for one week on $21 worth of food, the average allotment for someone on food stamps. Two of them are blogging about it: Ohio’s Rep. Tim Ryan and Massachusetts’ Rep. Jim McGovern (along with his wife Lisa McGovern). McGovern’s is actually pretty hilarious, full of tales of brown-bagging it to formal events.
Where else are you going to get stories like this?
Tonight I am going to a Hillary Clinton event at the home of Ambassador Elizabeth and Smith Bagely’s house. Once again, it’s a sit down dinner. I am bringing my own dinner — chicken and rice in tupperware.
Still, if Congressmembers think $21 a week is hard, they should check out this guy.
