A CSU Fresno student from Hayward was arrested today on charges of killing a man and shooting two others during a fight over a PlayStation 2. Jonquel Brooks, nineteen, is a criminology major, and after allegedly pulling the trigger last night and fleeing the scene it seems that he became a textbook case of Someone Who Thinks That Changing His Clothes and Haircut (in this case shaving his head) Will Help Him Get Away with Murder. "The suspect had altered his appearance significantly," Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer told the Associated Press . "He shaved his head and also changed his clothing apparently in an attempt to avoid being recognized." Police are still searching for the gun.
Curiously, in an article about the shootings, Agence France-Presse, a wire service, pointed out to its largely non-American audience that "police played down the possibility of a Virginia Tech-style planned killing." Kind of obvious, if you ask us. Brooks clearly isn't a suicidal psychopath on a mission to kill - he's allegedly just another violent, gun-toting American idiot who really, really, really likes videogames.
