Today’s review of Kappa is a swan song for San Francisco Chronicle restaurant reviewer Bill Addison. He had a short run: Addison joined the Chron just nine months ago, leaving a gig as food editor of the alt weekly Creative Loafing Atlanta. At the Chron Addison stayed mostly within SF city limits, although he occasionally ventured across the Bay Bridge with his reviewer’s notebook. His writing revealed a sharp eye and a gentle sense of humor, qualities Addison will take with him to Dallas he’ll be restaurant critic/dining editor of the Dallas Morning News. Addison won’t have a replacement at the Chron, at least for now: a hiring freeze means existing staff will have to fill in Wednesday and Friday review slots. What’ll Addison miss most about the City? The season’s first Dungeness? Monster burritos? Nope. “Seeing two guys walking down the street holding hands,” he told the Express. We’ll miss you, Bill.
