Berkeley city council candidates usually find it hard to get Cal students interested in local politics. George Beier, who's running for the South Campus council seat, is trying to attract interest in his campaign by hosting a party at Larry Blake's tonight offering $1,000 worth of free booze. The invite says "Cal students and southside residents only," so outsiders should bring their fake Cal IDs. And perhaps any other fake IDs they may have. Even though the invite beckons people 18 & over, Beier assures us everyone will be carded to make sure they're of age to drink. As for why he's throwing the shindig at the Telegraph Avenue night club, Beier explains, "We're trying to figure out how to attract a younger crowd."
