2) When history judges 21st century newspapers, they will note very few stood up against the drug war in any meaningful way. The Seattle Times went past the invisible line drawn in editorial boards across the country when it said late Feb. that we should scrap pot prohibition. For this, they earned a visit from US Drug Czar Gil Kerlikowske last week.
3) Drug warriors love to quote how many people are in drug treatment for smoking pot, but they usually forget to mention how tax dollars force people into such establishments on pain of jail. According to the latest government stats on national rehab admissions: "Primary marijuana admissions were less likely than all admissions combined to be self-referred to treatment (15 percent vs. 32 percent)." (pg. 19).
