.Sonny & The Sunsets Added to 2010 Pitchfork Music Festival

San Francisco’s Sonny & The Sunsets have been added to the 2010 Pitchfork Music Festival July 16-18 at Chicago’s Union Park, it was announced today. The local band is filling the spot for Sweden’s jj, who canceled. Songwriter Sonny Smith recently completed his 100 Records Project, in which he commissioned artists to create 100 different record covers for 100 albums by fictional bands he made up and wrote the songs for (200 total). Fellow SF outfit Girls also play the fifth annual music festival, as well as former locals WHY?.

The entire Pitchfork lineup: (Friday) Modest Mouse, Broken Social Scene, Robyn, Liars, El-P, The Tallest Man on Earth, and Sharon Van Etten; (Saturday) LCD Soundsystem, Panda Bear, Wolf Parade, The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Raekwon, Titus Andronicus, WHY?, Delorean, Real Estate, Bear In Heaven, Free Energy, The Smith Westerns, Dm-Funk, Kurt Vile, Freddie Gibbs, Sonny & The Sunsets, and Netherfriends; (Sunday) Pavement, Big Boi, Major Lazer, St. Vincent, Lightning Bolt, Beach House, Girls, Sleigh Bells, Neon Indian, Cass McCombs, Here We Go Magic, Surfer Blood, Local Natives, Washed Out, Best Coast, Cave, and All.
