San Francisco fuzz-doom duo Black Cobra is celebrating the release of its Chronomega album on vinyl today with a special in-store performance at Amoeba Records in San Francisco at 6 p.m. The CD was originally released last September and marked the band’s debut on Southern Lord Recordings. The vinyl edition (official release date February 10) is pressed on 180-gram wax, and the first pressing will come in limited-edition color combos. It’ll also feature a cover of Buzzov*en’s “Behaved,” which was previously only available on the Japanese CD, just to give you further excuse to shell out the extra dough. Following tonight, the band will do a bunch of in-stores down the coast, and later this year will embark on some real touring to support the record. In other BC news, the band released its own iPhone app earlier this year — further proof that iPhones really are metal. For more on Black Cobra, read our 2008 profile of the band here.
