.Loaded, Stolen East Bay Gun at Corte Madera Hyphy Party

At least two guns were brandished during a melee following a hyphy party at a recreation center in Corte Madera earlier this month, reports the Marin Independent Journal. One of the weapons, a .25-caliber handgun reported stolen from the East Bay, was found loaded with a round in the chamber later that evening by a resident walking his dog. “The firearm aspect of this investigation is something we typically don’t see in this community,” police detective Pat Torres told the Journal. The party, which signals hyphy culture’s spread to quieter Bay Area communities, featured performances by Oakland’s The Pack and Marin’s The K.A.M.P. Oakland-based U.D. Security Services, hired to handle security at the concert, says its six personnel were overwhelmed.
