Five albums, twelve years, member rotations, critical praise, and failed expectations, San Francisco's shoegaze dream-pop band Dora Flood has endured it all. Still, the group continues to traverse the not-always-so-appreciative music scene to produce well-crafted pop songs. "Phoenix Rising" off its new album, We Live Now, to be released in February, layers fuzzy bass lines and syrupy guitar licks, not unlike the thick San Francisco fog from which the band emerged. It plays this Friday, January 5, at Cafe du Nord. Listen online.
