.MP3 of the Day: Totimoshi’s “Viva Zapata”

Today’s MP3 is brought to you by Alameda sludge-metal band Totimoshi, the letter V, and the Spanish language. Instrumental track “Viva Zapata” may be paying homage to Emilio Zapata, a leading figure in the Mexican Revolution, but it also owes a debt to Black Sabbath and the Melvins — two bands that inform Totimoshi’s slowed-down groovy growl. The song comes from this year’s Ladrón, produced by Helmet’s Page Hamilton and the band’s second release with ultra-heavy Crucial Blast Records.
