When: Sat., Sept. 14, 8 p.m. 2013
Formerly known as Sensation White, Sensation: The Ocean of White is a decade-old European mega-rave that’s touring the United States for the first time. The massive house-music party is best known for its extravagantly wild production and all-white dress code. To create an “Ocean of White,” organizers will call on aerial artists, a jellyfish made out of LEDs suspended over the audience, more than 200 pyrotechnical effects, and 22 water fountains — all synchronized to the music, of course. DJ Fedde Le Grand, who has performed at other Sensations and will spin at the Oracle Arena (7000 Coliseum Way, Oakland) when the tour stops by this week, describes the event as “somewhere between a festival and a Cirque du Soleil show.” He’ll be joined onstage by other house music producers, including Mr. White, Nic Fanciulli, Prok and Fitch, and MC McGee. Tickets are expensive, but they’re still cheaper than the cost of a transcontinental plane flight.
