Midnight in Paris

Rated PG-13 94 minutes 2011

Owen Wilson’s Woody Allen imitation matches up well with one of Allen’s fanciful literary scenarios in this charming “old man’s fantasy” about a dissatisfied Hollywood screenwriter (Wilson), on vacation in the title city with his oblivious wife (Rachel McAdams) and her awful friends, who magically escapes into a vision of 1920s “Lost Generation” Paris. Has the same nostalgia-drenched feel as Paris Je T’Aime, and also takes care to decorate its postcard valentine with nice performances by Marion Cotillard (as the Wilson character’s flapper girlfriend), Kathy Bates (Gertrude Stein), and Adrien Brody, in cameo as Salvador Dalí (94 min.).
