The Crazies Will Destroy You, Megafauna. With a sound that’s an odd mix of rock, punk, and country, the Crazies Will Destroy You is an odd sort of band. Witty, though — when was the last time you heard a song about meeting someone at a taco stand? Alternating male and female vocals and a generally relaxed feel give them a certain bar-band appeal. The Bodice Rippers, EP Vol. 1. Deliberately campy and theatrical, the Bodice Rippers are a lot of fun. It sounds almost like the soundtrack to some sort of deranged Parisian musical. Bluesy, boozy, with deep throaty female vocals and a folksy edgy, they’re the perfect soundtrack to your next absinthe-drinking extravaganza. (self-released)

The Aimless Never Miss, Tran EP. This fairly standard indie album is mostly worth noting for singer Jon Latimer’s occasional vocal resemblance to Jane’s Addiction’s Perry Farrell. It’s an odd sort of voice, high and thin but appealing nonetheless. Other than the vocals it’s pretty typical indie rock — not particularly original, but pleasantly dreamy. (self-released)
Midnight Strangers, Days of Decadence. Imagine what would have happened if Gene Loves Jezebel had ever discovered electronica and you have an idea of what Midnight Strangers sound like. The electronic elements are subtle and not overpowering, so it’s still more indie than electronica, creating a hybrid of old-school goth and a more modern sound. (self-released)
