Small businesses are the engine to Oakland’s economy – 90% of local firms employ 50 or fewer people.
To help nurture Oakland’s small business community, a series of workshops, receptions and events are planned for National Small Business Week. Topics include financing, marketing, business planning, real estate, business start-up guidance, expansion advice and more. Recognition events include Monday’s reception celebrating Oakland’s family-owned businesses and proclamations honoring local small business owners at Tuesday’s Oakland City Council meeting. New for 2017, the Business Connect Initiative brings workshops to five Oakland neighborhoods. On Saturday, show your love for Oakland small businesses by shopping local.
