Rated R 109 minutes 2007

Purists will damn rock star-turned-director Rob Zombie for remaking John Carpenter's horror classic, but only the most indiscriminate horror fans would say we actually needed another sequel to the original after, oh, six shitty ones helped to almost kill masked serial killer Michael Meyers more conclusively than bullets had been able to. In other words, a remake was necessary or, more precisely, a reimagining, as that's what this is: Instead of focusing on virginal Laurie Strode, Zombie's worthy bloodbath shifts the focus to partially dissecting the origins of Meyers' psychosis and doesn't even get around to the original's events until the final act.
