With its savory Vietnamese pork sandwiches and occasional pig roasts, the Chop Bar is a favorite neighborhood eatery in the warehouse district. The owners are adamant about locally sourcing their food, and they also offer drafts from several Bay Area breweries, including the beloved Linden Street.
This jazzy, planked-wood Oakland cafe is one of the Bay Areas coolest hangouts. The cuisine (hearty American fare with a few Mediterranean accents) isnt always up to the setting, but the luscious pork shank with figs and apricots, the potato gratin with Fiscalini cheddar, and a pot de crème touched with cinnamon are delectable. Five wines are served tapped from the barrel, and there's a three-course dinner and drink specials on Mondays.
