The sexual assault of two women during a pot stop was just "customer service", writes the head of a faction of one of the country's largest police unions.
Reason.com reports that Dale Roberts - the executive director of the Columbia Police Officers Association (CPOA), part of a major police union - joked on Facebook March 27 that the sexual assault of two Texas women stopped for pot was just "customer service".suing the Texas State Troopers for inserting fingers into both of their vaginas and rectums — all without changing latex gloves. No pot was ever found, and Ashley passed a subsequent field sobriety test.
Last week, two troopers involved — Kelly Helleson and David Farrell — were indicted for sexual assault and theft during the incident: "a Dallas County Grand Jury charged Helleson with two counts of sexual assault and two counts of official oppression ... The other trooper, David Farrell, who initiated the traffic stop, is charged with theft. ... Angel Dobbs says her bottle of prescription pills was stolen during the traffic stop."
The indictments prompted Dale Roberts to take to Facebook where he called the humiliating, unsanitary fingering of two women's orifices "Customer Service! We just did it so they wouldn't have to make the trip all the way down to the station."
Missouri civil liberties site Keep Columbia Free screengrabbed Roberts' statement.
Now Reason and the rest of the net has it.
Helleson has been fired. Farrell has been suspended. Let's make sure Dale Roberts - a University of Missouri professor, for god's sake - is shitcanned, too.
